Abbey Road's Miles Showell on the Analoguetube AT-101 Stereo Compressor
Miles began his career at Utopia Studios in 1984, where he was trained in the finer arts of disc cutting and tape copying, as mastering was then known. He then moved onto Copymasters (now Masterpiece) in 1989 before joining Metropolis Mastering in 1998 where he became well known for his attention to detail and striving to improve the vinyl format by re-introducing half-speed mastering and live direct to disc recordings.
Miles’ family used to own a record shop and he was brought up on a very wide diet of music. This has stood him in good stead for a career in mastering where he is equally at home working on dance, ethnic, folk, R’n’B, pure pop, guitar based indie music or crossover classical. Whatever you bring to Miles, his big musical taste and sympathetic ear is sure to bring out the best in your recording.
Recent artists mastered by Miles include: Underworld, Jessie J, Andy Burrows, Disclosure, Eric Clapton, Faithless, The Staves, Tracey Thorn, CeeLo Green, Marcus Miller, The Who, Lana Del Rey, Doves, Andrew Bayer, The Sugababes and Ed Harcourt.
